Zankoku Hanten by Koji Kawano – 2008
Not all Japanese horrors are classics. Even some of them are just like our Ramsay Brothers’ productions. The only difference is that female characters in these Jap movies are far cuter than the Indian counterparts. Once you go through the numerous forced nude scenes in Koji Kawano’s Zankoku Hanten (English Title: Cruel Restaurant), you will have no other option but to agree with me.
Let’s get back to this movie. Ms. Lin (Mihiro) together with Chef Chin runs a small restaurant which is gaining rapid popularity due to its delicious fried dumplings. However, no one knows about the secret ingredients of these prized dumplings. On the other hand, people from the same vicinity start disappearing. The police and the journalist are about to discover the link between the missing people and the ingredients of these delicious fried dumplings.
How original a story can get! In the name of Japanese horror/ thriller, Zankoku Hanten is an absolute time waster. The obvious story is pretty clear from the very beginning and there is nothing new in it. The direction was very amateurish and even some scenes/ plots in this Jap movie make it tasteless. Zankoku Hanten contains several gore scenes including chopping of meat (suppose to be human) by a meat cleaver, beheading, dismemberment etc. However, these scenes look rather monotonous and unrealistic (with very kiddish CG or props). Even the lead female character is being raped in the movie, where her rapist covers her with ketchup, oil etc. before the act. Even a slight part of the background score (5-8 seconds) sounds quite similar to Limp Bizkit’s Take a Look Around (OST: Mission Impossible 2). Apart from few irritating frontal nudity, shower scenes etc. Zankoku Hanten has nothing much to offer. Unfortunately, it is neither porn, nor a horror movie. I would love to give this piece of art a negative rating, but since it is a form of art, I will reserve something for it.
Please don’t forget to watch the climax of the movie to find out the truth about the technique of making these delicious dumplings. I’m very sure, if nothing, this part of Zonkoku Hanten will really surprise you. A Cruel Restaurant, indeed.

it is really just waste of time. it has nothing to offer. i cant believe japanese made such low quality movie. it is not horror, killing and cutting people such way is very poor. it is not porno either. it is some kind of asian style to look at the white pants of lady, then take pants out and raping her boops with oil and etc. the way she masturbates in front of her master also something that makes japanese guys get seducted but not western guys! also how fried dumlings made is a boolshit, i cant believe that people love to eat dumplings which made of human meat and came out of her pussy((( overall the movie is just time waster
