Lat Den Ratte Komma In by Tomas Alfredson - 2008
Lat Den Ratte Komma In (English Title: Let the Right One In) is directed by Tomas Alfredson. This movie is based on a novel by John Ajvide Lindqvist. You will rarely get the chance to see this type of sweet romantic horror movie. The horror movie begins with the bullying of Oskar (Kare Hedebrant), a preteen kid by his classmates. Angry little Oskar stays away from people and wants to take revenge. By this time he falls in love with Eli (Lina Leandersson), a strange girl of his age who is allergic to the sunlight. Eli gives him all the strength required to fight back. As their love develops, Oskar discovers the hardest truth of his life. It is all about Eli and things begin to change for them forever. But love overpowers all the hindrances on their way.
The entire movie is shot in Blackberg, a suburb near Stockholm. This beautiful horror movie is a perfect combination of romance and violence. I have really liked the direction and the cinematography in this horror flick. It is quite of high standards. Even the actors have done their job pretty well. After a long time, I have seen something, which has a great element of drama in a so called horror movie. However, this movie is definitely more than a horror movie. A highly recommended movie; especially for those who have liked movies like The Others or The Tale of Two Sisters.
My Rating - 8/10
